A new trench coat, and Coco Before Chanel

I apologise for not having posted in a while, but things have been a bit mad lately! First of all I wanted to show you guys the new coat I bought, and can't wait to wear once sixth form recommences next week. It was only £22.00, which I thought wasn't bad at all. I've wanted a trench coat since before I can remember, and this one is perfect; it will be great for autumn as it isnt too heavy, it's not a heavy-duty all-weather-resister kind of coat. I love it, although I was toying with the idea of dyeing it navy and sewing on vintage gold or brass buttons instead. Firstly because I love the idea, secondly because I don't know how long this coat will last being cream! Knowing me I will get something on it. (By the way I apologise for the picture quality).

I went to see the film Coco Before Chanel the night before last; I enjoyed it, and some of the outfits were really wonderful; the Chanel tweed suit that Karl Lagerfeld designed for the film was lovely, as were some of the other pieces she wore. Audrey Tautou was brilliant, I must say, and the film was interesting.
Hope you are all having a good summer.

I just couldn't resist...

So yesterday I was in town alone for a couple of hours before meeting some friends, and I popped into French Connection. I don't usually shop in there as I find it pretty expensive, but I was looking at their sale rail when I found these two dresses. Normally I wouldn't just go out and buy two dresses, but I really could not resist getting these two; the sale prices were so good, I was a little bit shocked actually! I did have a motive for buying them though; I've been invited to a wedding reception in October, and I wanted a new dress for it so I thought I would look in the sales. The other dress I just loved and I've decided I might wear it to a friend's 18th in September; I had a wardrobe clearout the other day and I got rid of a couple of dresses I haven't worn in ages; completely worn out ones I've had for a long time. I'd like to think that cancels out my new buys... but hopefully the fact that the sale prices were good makes up for it anyway?!

I know that in the pictures they look fairly plain on the accessories front but I've just posted pictures of the dresses sans-accessories at the moment for ease; at some point in the future I will post pictures with accessories when I wear them. (Although I did include one idea of the plaid dress belted)

I did find some beautiful, quite quirky earrings from Accessorize that I thought would go well with the tartan/plaid dress; and the last photo is of a top from Topshop I bought with some leftover vouchers I thought the colours were perfect for autumn/winter, plus its so comfy!

Tell me what you think...

New buys

So I thought I would just add a few pictures of items I've bought recently over the summer. The first is a bag I bought in the Topshop sale a couple of weeks ago; I wanted it when it was full-price but couldn't afford it, so I was ecstatic when I found it in the sale! I've been taking it everywhere; its an across-body bag with long straps, and I love the studs and tassel fringing on it.

The second photo is of a couple of scarves I bought in an old market on my holiday to Egypt recently. I loved the colours and thought they were perfect for now as well as autumn and winter; especially since summer weather hasn't lived up to expectations!

The last photo is another top I bought a couple of days ago, from Topshop. I fell in love with the colour and the lace panel and can't wait to wear it to a friend's low-key party tomorrow. Please comment!

Titanic

I know this is my third post in a couple of hours, but I just wanted to post this right away.

I've just been watching Titanic, which I love; and every time I see that film I find myself coveting the dresses that Kate Winslet's character Rose wears. Obviously I would be hard pushed to find an occasion (or the money!) to wear something similar to those dresses to, but I just love them so much I had to post about them. They really are beautiful; those glamourous dresses of that era are just amazing. I love the colours, the textures, everything, its so decadent.

Enjoy!

Recent inspirations

This is my first post about fashion; my first proper post, you could say. I'm not exactly sure how I should go about it; obviously as blogger you are in control, but this is my first step into a whole new world...

OKAY, here we go.

Well I thought that for my first fashion post I would just write about a few things that have inspired me recently, stuff like that.

Well I got a lot of my inspiration to start a blog from the TeenVogue forums, I must admit. All of the contributors there are brilliant. As for the magazine itself; I really do love some of their fashion spreads and the way they style their cover stars. I absolutely LOVED the recent August issue featuring Emma Watson; the clothes they put her in were stunning and it was that spread that started my obsession with the D&G fall collection. Ever since I saw that spread, I keep seeing this particular skirt that I have just fallen in love with; it seems to be mocking me as I see it in so many adverts and magazines! All of the clothes were beautiful, though, as was the setting.

Unfortunately, I'm not exactly from a ridiculously wealthy background and therefore the skirt will remain a dream... (sob).

I really do think autumn and winter are my favourite seasons; not because of Christmas necessarily! I love them not only due the scenery and weather here in England (which is admittedly cold and rainy much of the time, yes) but I just love any kind of weather; I love nature in general to be perfectly honest. But I really, REALLY love autumn and winter fashion. I think its just the idea of all those luxurious fabrics like warm cashmere and velvet; silks and satins, rich, dark jewel-like colours and all of that. Sadly my lifestyle hardly calls for this kind of attire; but a girl can dream! I still love all of the coats/boots/thick jumpers kind of thing these seasons call for though. Don't get me wrong, I love summer, but its the fall fashion lines and magazine spreads that get me all excited.

Gorgeous coat... if only.
I forgot to add in my previous post that my blog will also sometimes contain pictures of items I buy, or outfits I have put together; along with film inspirations etc...

I present my newly created blog...

So, this is my first ever blog. I've only ever been a forum gal before.
So summer is a time for trying new things, for change, right? Perfect time to create a blog...
I've been wanting to do this for a while now, and I must admit I am slightly apprehensive as to how this blog will go down... I have to say, worry is my middle name :).

First and foremost, this is going to be a fashion blog. I decided to create one because I am always seeing things, or getting these ideas into my head, and I never have anywhere to put them down. I will probably add random pieces of information or advice from time to time concerning diet... only because I am currently trying to get my weight down; possibly beauty also. This blog will also be sprinkled with a healthy dose of randomness; thoughts, notable occurrences perhaps...:) I hope that people find this blog inspiring. For me, its a way of clearing up some headspace; somewhere to be a little bit creative, a little bit more myself. Sometimes I think anonymity allows me to be more myself than I can otherwise be normally!

I really hope that anyone who visits enjoys it; please leave comments if you see/read something you like, feedback is much appreciated!!
